WHEN REMOVABLE APPLIANCES COULD WORK FOR YOU
Posted November 9, 2017
When you need to realign your teeth, you don’t have to use a fixed orthodontic apparatus. Numerous removable appliances are available to help you in having the smile that you want. We’ve accumulated a list of many of the current common removable orthodontic appliances for you to learn a bit more about your choices:
Headgear. With headgear, your jaw growth is slowed to a crawl by a strap behind your head attaching to a wire in front of your head. (This is called a face bow.)
Lip and cheek bumpers. Lip and cheek bumpers are formed to isolate the lips and cheeks from the chompers. If cheeks and lips press too tightly on the chompers, chompers might move out of location; cheek bumpers eliminate that pressure.
Palatal expander. Palatal expanders are designed to extend the jaw arch. These plastic appliances fit on top of the roof of the mouth, and pressure applied to them by outward screws widens the joints of the bones and expands the oral cavity palate.
Retainers. One of the extra common appliances, retainers are usually utilized preventively to thwart shifting of pearly whites into former positions. There are other uses for retainers, but they’re generally utilized to keep pearly whites in alignment.
If you have lost a baby tooth prematurely or if your teeth or jaw are misaligned, an orthodontic appliance may be right for you. To schedule a consultation with Dr. R.
